European Director of Credit
100% Remote working
£85,000 - £100,000 + 20% bonus

This role heads up collections and cash across a growing global remit reporting into a Global O2C Director. The purpose of the role is to lead a team with an emphasis on staff and skill development. You will manage a department that optimizes cash flow and working capital, proactively implementing strategies to manage aged receivables and to drive down non-collectable expense. Maintaining strong relationships with internal key partners and external customers is key as well as leading continuously process improvement.

Managing a function of 35-40 staff with 6 direct reports across multiple locations. The largest teams being based in German, France and Italy.
Provides reports with a focus on financial performance and strategy execution and communicate to internal leadership where applicable
Collaborate to set policies such as customer research, credit line monitoring, fraud review, monitoring and improving accounts receivable ageing.
Develop monthly targets for collection staff
Develop departmental KPI’s that drive business results in a timely, clear, and impacting manner
Design and implement processes and controls to improve cash flow, reduce receivables and improve productivity
Communicate performance, issues and recommendations
Ensuring process improvement initiatives are investigated and followed though where beneficial
Review and ensure that all collection activity is recorded accurately and appropriately in the relevant systems
Maintaining strong relationships with other internal departments and third-party vendors including banking partners
Negotiate contracts with third-party vendors such as collection agencies
Manage employee morale and succession planning

Required Skills & Experience

Previous experience as a Credit Manager in a large global business covering an EMEA region
Languages skills would be beneficial - Preferably German, Italian and/or French
Experience of managing remote European credit teams/individuals
Experience of managing 25+ staff and at least 5 years in a managerial capacity
Experience of working in an O2C function, shared services, FTSE business or similar
A track record of process improvement & delivering successful results
Proven experience of creating and implementing KPI's
Work with multiple ERP systems and collection software - SAP Implementation/upgrade advantageous
Excellent organisational and planning skills
Demonstrated record of process improvement
Ability to communicate effective both orally and in writing
A strong leader and negotiation skills
CICM Qualified / Degree in Accounting / or Finance related qualification
